STORY OF THE SOUL COLLECTOR

Once upon a time there was a poor man traveling from village to village earning his living by entertaining the crowds as a musician. He had lost his home many years ago and had to sleep under whatever shelter he could find. It usually worked out pretty well, but it was of course tougher during the winter. One night he had found shelter in a barn very close to the village church. Just before he fell into sleep he was woken by a couple of dark hooded men carrying big crosses and torches.

One of these men took a step closer and said with his determined voice that the man was not allowed to stay there. The musician then replied that he was terribly sorry and didn’t mean any harm and that we would pack his belongings and leave. Just before he was about to reach for his instrument another of the dark hooded members stepped in between and said that he would not be leaving with his instrument. The musician crawled backwards and begged for his instrument and explained that it was his life and without it he would not earn money for food...

The dark hooded man lowered his torch and said that ”tonight, one musician less will no longer spread the tunes of the devil”. He then broke the instrument in let the torch spread the flames along the handmade masterpiece. The musician had to sit and watch the flames turn his only joy he had ever loved into ashes. The hooded men with the torches turned away and said that he was not welcome back to their village ever again...

Scared, furious and with tears in his eyes he took what was left of his belongings and left the village to find shelter deep into the woods. Exhausted from running he finally fell asleep... During his dreams he had nightmares and had to relive the same devastating event again over and over. But when the dark hooded men had disappeared, a creature came out from the bushes. He convinced the musician that it was possible to get his beloved instrument back in exchange for a tiny favor. Devastated as the musician was, and wantedeverything to get back to how it was before, he accepted the deal without asking about the consequences...

The next morning he woke up and found something very familiar in his hands.. it was his instrument! Convinced that he had been dreaming the entire event he went back to the town to earn some coins for some breakfast. But it was not the same village anymore. The houses were burned to ashes and the ravens were circling above all the death and decay that had taken over the village.

The musician looked at his instrument he was holdingin his hands, and started to remember his dream... he remembered the creature and his offer... it thenoccurred to him that he didn't only sell his soulto the Devil, he also agreed to help him spread the decay and collect all the remaining souls so the Devil in the end could rule the world. The musician’s wish had come true and he got his beloved instrument back, but by night he would also become... the Soul Collector.

About Black Magic Fools

In the year of 2008 on a dark December night, a bunch of peculiar looking fools entered the stage in a local tavern in the town of Gothenburg. This was not just another gang of fools, this was the Black Magic Fools. And since that dark and dreadful winter night the Black Magic Fools have grown to be a force to be reckoned with. With the power of luring the crowds into dancing, singing, laughing and unrestrained head banging the Fools have travelled near and far to give the audience the greatest of times.

Why do they possess such powers, you might ask? Does their story really start in 2008? No, it does not. That is just the first time they decided to start spreading their decay in the metal world. Seven hundred years ago, in the dark ages, these travelling musicians were accused of being in league with the devil, playing the devils music. Their instruments were taken and destroyed by those who feared the musicians would twist the minds of the young and innocent, luring them into unholy behaviours.

As the musicians mourned the loss of their precious instruments, a mysterious creature came out from the shadows and offered them to make a deal. They were to be given their beloved instruments back in exchange for a little favour. Without hesitation the musicians accepted the deal without asking about the consequences, and suddenly the instruments lied by their feet unharmed. Thrilled and relieved, they started playing and kept on playing to the break of dawn. As the sun rose they fell fast asleep on the ground, still happily unaware that they gave their souls to the devil the night before. Since then the musicians are bound to travel around the world to gather souls for the dark lord, helping him to fulfil his wish to rule the world.

If you ever see one of the fools in broad daylight, you will notice that there is nothing out of the ordinary in the way they look, on the contrary, they look just like any other member of the human race. Even though they themselves like to think that they are very pretty. Whether you think they are or not, you would never suspect the powers hidden within their dark, spell bound souls. At night, the Black Magic Fools step into their true form. They paint their eyes black as night to tell the reaper to quietly pass them by and they dress in ragged clothes fit for poor travelling musicians. But don't be deceived by their humble looks, as they enter the stage they will put you under the same curse they once were thrown under. In the blink of an eye you will be under their spell.

Music from the dark ages, music from the present, folk music and metal music. Put these elements together and you will be on your way of discovering the world of the Black Magic Fools. Guitars, bass and drums share the stage with bagpipes and violins. The stirring rhythms of the folk music and the heavy metal riffs creates a fiery mix of music from times with no less than seven hundred years between them. For seven centuries they have wondered this earth. For seven centuries the Black Magic Fools have been the soul collectors. And so they will be for many centuries to come.
